Description

This is a Rolex Submariner 16800 MATTE DIAL. The Rolex Submariner 16800 matte dial was only produced for a very short period and is known as the “transitional” Submariner because while it featured the addition of a sapphire crystal, quick-set date and increased depth rating (from 660 feet to 1000 feet), it still retained the older-style matte dial. This 16800 is a perfect example of a fully transitional matte Sub, which gives it a distinctly vintage look without sacrificing the scratch-resistant sapphire.

Needless to say, it’s highly collectable. This particular piece has a perfectly faded bezel, uniformly faded to a grey-blue hue. The matte dial is perfect; free of water damage, oil marks, spotting, or other age-related decline, expected in a 30 plus-year-old watch. The tritium hands, lume plots, and bezel pip have all aged to a bright brown-yellow colour. The case is in fantastic shape; free of deep marks and gouges. It does not appear to have been polished too much over the years as is evidenced by the lugs still being thick. This watch has the correct 93150 Submariner Oyster bracelet with the correct 593 end links. Finding these watches in all original condition is becoming increasingly difficult, these matte dial models are highly sought after when found in their original condition especially when the dials are flawless.

This watch is in very good condition for its age. this watch comes with Rolex Box, Rolex Oyster Booklet, Rolex Submariner booklet, Rolex Green leather Wallet, Rolex hang tag Rolex Swimpruf tag and Rolex translation booklet.
