Description

The Dial

The silver-white dial is in fantastic vintage condition, requiring no restoration work. It bares a very light and even patina over its burst patterned surface, a very attractive original in my opinion. Black 1 – 12 applied baton hour indices mark the hours and simple pencil hands point to them, all of which, haven’t aged a day, due to the paint used on them. The dial is signed ‘Movado’ and ‘Kingmatic’ below.

The Case

The case is made of solid 14ct yellow gold. The case is pressure sealed for waterproofing (being a ‘Sub-Sea’ Kingmatic) but inscribed on the exterior is ’14K Gold Sub Sea’. Other than the inscription the case back is smooth and without significant damage, just the light scuffing expected with all vintage gold watches. The case profile is a slight curved square (not quite tonneau) with short straight lugs, which are still sharp and crisp. For its 29mm size, the case feels very strong, sturdy and heavy, giving me confidence in recommending this watch for everyday use.

The bezel on the watch bares an incredible spiralized etching, which has remained sharp over the years. All signs indicate that this watch has been very well cared for throughout its life.

The Movement

It’s a pressure sealed case so I can’t get a photograph of the movement without visiting my watchmaker, I can however say that the watch runs fairly well and is perfectly accurate enough for everyday use. The rotor winding mechanism works perfectly, you should have no issue with the power reserve of this watch, as long as its worn and enjoyed!

Strap & Buckle

This watch is fitted with a blue genuine leather watch strap and matching yellow gold-plated buckle. If a different strap would be preferred, I can fit an 18mm lug width strap provided by the buyer at no extra expense.

Conclusion

I’m a private seller, not a company so unfortunately returns aren’t an option, unless of course the watch is broken when it arrives. I may ship 1-2 days after I receive payment, as I work full-time, and may not find time to get the package away immediately.
