Description

The Dial

Used across both the Oyster and Precision product lines, the starburst dial is a familiar face for a vintage Rolex. Indicating the hours 1 to 11 are 18ct gold batons and proudly at 12 is the Rolex coronet. The dial is simply signed ‘Rolex’ at 12 with ‘Precision’ below and ‘Swiss’ below 6. This dial is completely original, untouched, unrestored and in glorious condition.

The Case

The 18ct gold case is Rolex Swiss Made and is in a fantastic original condition. The case measures 35mm in diameter excluding the winding crown, making this a decently sized vintage watch, perfectly suitable for both men’s and women’s wrists today. The case features short straight lugs which are swept back slightly. A smart and orderly case design that allows the stunning dial to shine forth in the centre of attention.

Both the bezel and case-back of the three-piece case can be removed with a case knife and do so with a reassuring pop, indicating that this case is of solid construction and has been well cared for throughout its life. Inscribed on the inside the press-fit case back are the signatures ‘Montres Rolex S.A.’, ‘Geneva Switzerland’, as well as Swiss 18ct hallmarks, as well as this Rolex’ model reference number, 3410.

This watch is fitted with the original Rolex gold-plated buckle.

The Movement

The Rolex Cal.1225 is synonymous with the Rolex Precision, and the most advanced calibre in Rolex’ 1200 series. This particular example has been regularly serviced and well maintained throughout its life, leaving this vintage Rolex movement in the gleaming condition you see here. The 1225 features sweep seconds, in most cases a date, and a shock resisting mechanism very advanced for its time. As you might expect, the timing is arrow straight and we will run some final tests and calibrations right before shipping.

The movement is signed ‘Montres Rolex S.A. Geneva Swiss’, ’17 Jewels’ and the calibre number 1225 is inscribed below the balance wheel.

Strap & Buckle

This watch is fitted with a tan leather strap and the original Rolex gold-plated buckle. If a different strap would be preferred, we can fit an 18mm strap provided by the buyer at no extra expense.

Conclusion

The watch is sold as-is. The watch will take a next day tracked and insured delivery service for the UK, and a 3-5 day service for customers abroad.
